These pictures were sent to us by Ekkehard at the Rudolf Steiner School in Christchurch.  Originally Ekkehard's wife bought a kit as a birthday present. He was delighted as can be discovered when he sent us these pictures.
We then supplied six kits to the school and the students worked in a production line to produce six boards in five days. . .Here is what he had to say:

Dear Roy,

Here is the proof that your kits had been used wisely and everything who was involved building the boards thouroughly enjoyed what she and he did - including me. I'm still filled with gratitude that everything worked out so nicely. This week happened to pass in a flash, last night I just couldn't believe that it was done and over. If this is life - I'd love to be born again!

We finished the Friday by applying the first coat of epoxy, one more is to come and than - voluntarily - a couple of coats of Spar boats varnish. And the drain valve needs to be mounted...
Apart from a few minor hiccups the flow of events went smoothly, we managed to work as a team rather than six individuals concentrating on their individual piece of labour, it wouldn't have lead to that result otherwise. And having all the machinery you can spot in the background of the pictures was essential to the success.
As you stated, the amount of wood was sufficient for seven boards, just my intention to build another board next to the students' proved to be an illusion - I walked home with muscles aching from the excessive use of spokeshaves, rasps and planes and the endless moments of tool sharpening. But I'm keen to have my next board done, it should happen at the beginning of the holidays.

Unfortunately the shipment of wood for the fins plus the wax didn't arrive during the week, I dealt with the fins by resawing some rail boards - no problem so far, it just raised a momentary nervousness if the wood supply might suffice. Which it did!
Viv didn't contact me - so no fame for me, but considering the fulfilment we got out of the job I feel truly blessed and nothing could exceed that emotion.

I'm glad to share some further details about the way the project was organised, if that is of interest to you.

So far I just want to thank you that you made this experience possible.

Have a great weekend

Yours

Ekkehard
